Mavs Founder Sean Lindsay grew up in the lacrosse hotbed of Westchester County, NY. He attended the New York State lacrosse powerhouse, Lakeland/Panas and graduated in 2000. During his time at L/P, Sean was a four-year starter, four-time All-Section Selection, two-time All-American and the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Lakeland Central School District.

Following a record setting high school career, Sean accepted an athletic scholarship at Syracuse University, where he played in four consecutive NCAA Final Fours and three National Championships – winning twice – in 2002 and 2004. He was selected as a team captain in his senior season. Sean was named a USILA All-American in his Junior and Senior seasons, garnering First Team All-American honors in 2004. He was named to the 2004 NCAA All-Tournament Team and was selected to participate in the North/South Collegiate All-Star game.

Upon graduating, Sean was selected as the 4th overall pick in the 2004 Major League Lacrosse Draft by the Rochester Rattlers. Sean spent two seasons with the Rattlers and started 20 of the 22 games. In 2006, Sean was traded to the Los Angeles Riptide, where he would start every game during his two seasons. During the 2007 season, Sean led the Riptide to their best season in franchise history, and an appearance in the MLL Championship game. He led the league in two-point goals and was voted an MLL All-Star and named All-Pro. Sean was one of only three midfielders voted to the MLL All-Pro team.

Sean’s MLL career continued until 2009, with the San Francisco Dragons, Denver Outlaws and Long Island Lizards. After his six-year career in Major League Lacrosse, Sean amassed 98 total goals (including 13 two-point goals) and 35 assists, giving him a total of 133 career points.
In 2010, Sean joined the LXM Pro Tour where he served as team captain of Maverik United. He continued to play professionally with LXM Pro until 2014, when he completed his 10th year of professional lacrosse.

In the Fall of 2005 Sean was the first employee hired by a new start-up lacrosse brand, Maverik Lacrosse. Sean’s position with Maverik would relocate him to the West Coast, where he ran the West Coast operations. “This is where I was able to fine-tune my teaching of the game and figure out techniques that kids could understand and pick up on when applying it to their own game. My goal was to get in front of as many people as possible in order to grow the brand while teaching the sport in new areas.”

In 2009 Sean founded the LA Mavericks. Since its inception, the LA Mavs has grown to the largest club lacrosse programs in Southern California. “When I first started the Mavs, I wanted the kids to fall in love with the sport. This is a game that has taken me all over the world and I have been fortunate enough to play with so many great people. I never focused on the awards or achievements, but always played hard and dedicated myself to the sport because of the love and passion that burns inside me for the game. If the young lacrosse players around the world are able to develop a similar passion for the sport, everything else will fall into place.” The Mavs program started with a single boys’ youth team and has grown to nine boys teams, three Lady Mavs teams and two national teams, which compete in nationally-recognized college recruiting events each summer. The program now includes over 300 players and over 20 coaches with NCAA Division I, II, III and MCLA experience.

Sean’s experiences in the sport of lacrosse have set the stage for his life both on and off the field. Since his graduation from Syracuse in 2004, Sean has shared his passion for lacrosse with thousands of youth and high school players across the country and continues to grow the game in Southern California.
